Youth Work
Vision
We want to see the lives of young people in Yeovil being transformed by the love of Jesus. To see young people’s lives going from despair, hopelessness, hurt and negativity to hope, joy, love, and full of God. For them to be healed, transformed and restored so they can be all that God calls them to be. We want young people to have the opportunity to hear about Christianity, to ask questions, to find out more and ultimately to decide if they want to start a new life with Jesus.
We want to journey with young people, through the ups and downs of life, being there for them, loving them unconditionally, being Jesus to them, for them to feel welcomed and wanted and accepted and part of a family and community.
We want to see and be part of a generation rising up who are passionate disciples of Jesus, who share Jesus with everyone around them, are salt and light, who are loved and know what it is to love others, who model true community, who want to see justice done in all situations, who worship every day, are passionate about the bible, and pray persistently, seeing God at work.
11-14 year olds
Livin It large (Sunday morning group)
Livin It large meet on a Sunday morning during church and in this group we discuss Christian topics, listen to people talk about Christianity and play games. In Livin It large we want to get to know God more, to understand the bible and ask any questions we may have about Christianity.
Livin It (Friday evening youth group)
Livin It is for young people aged 11 to 14 years old and occurs on Friday evenings at the GateWay from 8 to 9.30pm. In Livin It we play games, spend time doing things we enjoy like football, chatting with friends, doing girly things, playing pool and more. We also listen to people sharing about Christianity. Livin It is a great place to hang out with your friends, to get to know new people and to have fun!
BREAKING NEWS: Livin It Friday evening youth group has stopped. This is because Livin It has been running the same way for the past 7 years and we feel that we need to take a break and evaluate how we best serve young people aged 11-14 years old. If you would like to be contacted when Livin It starts again please contact Claire Hardy, her contact details are at the bottom of this page.

15-18 year olds (the 15+)
After Church (Sunday evening group)
After Church is for young people aged 15-18 and is on Sunday nights from 7-9pm. After Church mostly happens at the GateWay but once a month we have ‘Girls only’ and ‘Guys only’ After Church at the houses of other people. At After Church we spend time learning about God, through teaching, discussion and spending time in worship. We also spend time hanging out together by playing sport, games or by chatting with each other. Once a month we also have a social, which is purely about having fun, getting to know each other more and inviting friends to come.
The 15+ youth also like going on camps together. Every year we go away together for a week, where we get to know God and each other more. We have also done ‘Girls only’ and ‘Guys only’ weekends away, and every year we go to Soul Survivor camp in the summer. We also organise other events in the year like the 15+ Christmas meal and more.
Small Groups and Mentoring
As part of the youth work at Yeovil Community Church we believe it is important to encourage young people to be accountable and so we arrange small groups and mentoring for as many of the young people as possible in Livin It large and the 15+ youth groups.
