YPCC provides a free and confidential counselling service for women and their partners in Yeovil and the surrounding area, who experience a crisis related to pregnancy, abortion or baby loss. We aim to provide our clients with accurate information, time and support, so that they can look at their feelings and their circumstances and make informed and well thought out decisions, rather than decisions based on panic, misunderstanding or pressure. We seek to provide ongoing emotional and practical support for those who want to keep their babies; to support those choosing abortion by providing post-abortion counselling and to help clients consider adoption as a possible extra option.
All counsellors undergo a training course, on top of any existing training they already have. They also have additional training for post abortion and baby loss counselling. Strict rules of confidentiality apply to the service and there is ongoing professional training and a structured system of supervision. We work in co-operation with local medical services and are committed to providing a professional and trustworthy service which can be accessed by all members of the local community as required.
Counsellors offer a high level of supportive care to all clients, are non-judgemental, and respect and accept every person unconditionally. Counselling is non-directive, allowing women to make their own decisions and offering care and support whatever those decisions may be. Our aim is to achieve excellent standards of counselling and service to the community.
